The following are not my words but I echo the sentiment…
http://www.onedayblogsilence.com/OneDayBlogSilence.com.html
Silence can say more than a thousand words.
This day shall unite us all about this unbelievable painful & shocking event and show some respect and love to those who lost their loved ones.
On April 30th 2007, the Blogosphere will hold a One-Day Blog Silence in honor of the victims at Virginia Tech. More then 30 died at the US college massacre.
But it´s not only about them. Many bloggers have responded and asked about all the other victims of our world. All the people who die every day. What about them?
This day can be a symbol of support to all the victims of our world!
All you have to do is spread the word about it and post the graphic on your blog on 30th April 2007. No words and no comments. Just respect, reflect and empathy.
Spread the word about this event:

I just created a voice recording on my iPod Nano with the MicroMemo recorder. I am now testing wordpress podcasting.
I had to put the file on my server space and I will add the link here:
Julz Nano Voice Recording & Podcasting Test
When I subscribe to this blog from iTunes, this recording should show up in my iTunes Podcasts. Let’s see if it works…
Woohoo! It works, it works!

This book is unavailable right now but here’s some good info:
Here’s what one reader had to say in Amazon that I want to keep in mind fas a summary for OTLO…
As the author says, “This book is a strategic handbook for community builders.” It espouses 9 design strategies:
(1) Define and articulate your PURPOSE
(2) Build flexible, extensible gathering PLACES
(3) Create meaningful and evolving member PROFILES
(4) Design for a range of ROLES
(5) Develop a strong LEADERSHIP program
(6) Encourage appropriate ETIQUETTE
(7) Promotic cyclic EVENTS
(8) Integrate the RITUALS of community life
(9) Facilitate member-run SUBGROUPS
The book also proposes 3 design principles:
(1) Design for growth and change
(2) Create and maintain feedback loops
(3) Empower your members over time

Well, I like WordPress for a variety of reasons, but I have to say that Blogger has given me more control over the fun stuff for free. So I’ll probably have to pay so I can access the guts of this blog tool, sigh. Oh well, small price for big fun. So this template is cool because it allowed me to change my header image. If that’s cool to you, let me know and I’ll give add the name of the template to this post.
I also like WordPress because I can import posts from other blogs, kinda nice way to fill this blog with some stuff. I don’t like that the sidebar widgets are finicky so I couldn’t add my blogroll. So an important blog you need to check out is http://julzotlo.blogspot.com. I’m thinking about motivation right now…

It’s been a hectic but fun several weeks of workshops with some really cool NMSU Faculty and Staff. We want those of you who attended to know that we will continue to work hard providing more workshops to help you with the technology that you want to add to your courses. Keep emailing us and letting us know what you’d like to see more of.
Here’s the link to some of the materials we recently used:

“Within a month, the Wikimedia Foundation will launch Wikiversity, a project to create free online course material for all ages and languages. A six-month beta trial will start in three languages.”
